Aftercare
-
2 hours - 3 hours
Remove the bandage. Wash your tattoo with a mild antibacterial soap, under warm running water. Make sure to clean all the blood and plasma off of the tattoo. The tattoo should no longer feel slimy. Pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel. Allow to air-dry. Recover the tattoo with a new piece of plastic wrap.
-
First 48 hours
Keep the tattoo covered with plastic wrap. It is important to remove the plastic wrap and wash the tattoo well every 4-6 hours, excluding sleep. Air-dry the tattoo. Replace the plastic wrap with a new piece. While showering, make sure the tattoo is the last thing to be washed, with mild antibacterial soap.
Do not use lotion during this step.
-
After 48 hours
Stop using plastic wrap at this point. Only wash your tattoo 2-3 times a day with mid antibacterial soap. Apply a small amount of mild fragrance free lotion. Do not use too much; just enough so the tattoo no longer feels tight, the scabs stay flexible and do not crack off. Make sure to wash the tattoo every time before applying more lotion.
-
After 1 week
Wash and moisturize the tattoo until the scabs fall off. The tattoo will peal, similar to a sunburn. It is normal for the tattoo to be itchy. DO NOT pick or scratch the tattoo. If there looks like there is a white film, after the scabs have fallen off, this should go away after a few weeks. This is new skin growing over the new tattoo.
